Scar's The Lion King
When business or life situations do not go as planned, putting the necessary effort into finding solutions to problems is important. Life is unpredictable, and sometimes it takes strength and courage to become a better individual and help others. In The Lion King when Scar causes a stampede through the canyon to kill Simba and Mufasa to become the king, his plan works, and this causes the Pride Rock to fall apart. Simba flees pride rock after being told to run and never return by Scar, and loses his identity and leadership qualities that pride rock needs. After meeting new friends, the relationship that is built between him, Timon and Pumbaa, helps him become a stronger leader, by teaching him the term “Hakuna Matata”, which means no worries. …show more content…
According to “The Leadership Experience,” by Richard L. Daft, leadership traits, behaviors, and relationships make a big impact on the people you communicate with daily. In the chapter titled leadership trait, behaviors, and relationships, Daft states “Con-sideration describes the extent to which a leader cares about subordinates, respects their ideas and feelings, and establishes mutual trust. Showing appreciation, listening carefully to problems, and seeking input are examples of consideration behavior (Daft, 46).” Being considerate of oth-ers feelings is very important in being a leader, and Simba did an excellent job of understanding how hurt and scared most of the animals were at pride rock.     In The Lion King (Disney, 1994), a young lion cub undergoes a deep and powerful lesson of life while developing his morals and personality along the way. This young cub is in line to be the next ‘King of the Jungle.’ The name of the cub is Simba, who leaves on a journey after his uncle, Scar, sets his father Mufasa up to be murdered. After Muafasa is murdered, Scar tells Simba to leave instead of staying and becoming king. Mufasa, Simba’s father, was always a very prideful and righteous King who always tried to do the right thing. He taught Simba about “The Circle of Life,” which is a methodology about the balance of nature, and how every member of the jungle community has its own place and purpose. Simba however is a young and rebellious trainee who has just not matured enough to learn these traits from his father. The exile from the community leads him to find two lazy friends with whom he spends the next couple of years with, learning their way of life. He lives this lazy lifestyle until he has an epiphany about his father who wishes him to return, trying to rid Simba of the shame he felt for thinking he caused his fathers death. The many experiences of Simba allow him to develop into a King that cares for the entire jungle community. He learns many traits about himself, reflects on the lessons of his late father, and even learns how to not take life to seriously from his two lazy counterparts.…

    The classic hero’s journey can be seen all around society. The journey is seen in our favorite movies, comic strips, and even in our peers. Even though the hero’s journey follows the same ten steps and could get quite boring and overworked, directors and authors still find a way to pull society back in. Two directors that did just that were Rob Minkoff and Roger Allers, who directed one of the most popular Disney animated musicals, the 1994 Disney film The Lion King.
