Evans expresses problems that come up with the reasons schools choose to have students wear uniforms. Evans begins acknowledging the problems uniforms may help prevent. However, he follows by stating that there should already be rules in place to avoid such issues as gangs. He argues that uniforms may make gang interactions easier, as they will now be more difficult to identify. Similarly, he also shares that there are more ways than clothing to distinguish between the economic situations of students. As an illustration, some students will have more money, jewelry, or nicer cars. All in all, Evans says that as a principal he has seen students with high achievements who have dressed or groomed in ways which are not necessarily preferable. To Evans, children are all different from each other, which should not looked down
