There are a variety of reasons why someone would leave her home country. Some people are forced to leave because of ongoing war, poverty and oppression. Others make a conscious decision to leave their home countries behind in an effort to secure a better life in a new country. There are two driving factors behind most decisions to leave a homeland: Love or money. Sometimes both factors influence this major life decision.
Love
* With the advent of online dating, cheaper and more accessible long-distance travel options and the fact that people are generally more accepting of cross-cultural marriages and relationships than ever before, there has been a rise in the number of people looking for love in other countries, or who end up falling in love while on a trip abroad. As a result, many romantic adventures in foreign countries turn into lifelong marriages and love affairs once the trip is over. Couples continue to keep the romantic fire ignited through chat, email, webcam and telephone until they can see each other again. When both parties agree that they don't want to be so far away from each other any longer, one of them has to make a decision to move.
Immigrating to another country is not easy -- there are many papers to be filed, and proof of a genuine relationship must be established, especially for those wishing to leave their home country to live in the U.S. with their spouses or conjugal partners.
