The Nativists are Americans that are working to stop foreign influence in America. They have engaged in anti-immigrant practices such as: turning away immigrants looking for jobs, not allowing Catholics and foreigners to hold a position in office, they also want to create a 21 year waiting period to become a citizen. These people are also called the "Know-Nothing Party" They oppose allowing Catholic Immigrants to hold office because they believe allowing them in office will allow the Pope to have a hold in America and eventually take away the freedom we Americans fought for. They don’t want to risk giving power to anyone who’s not “native” because the country already fought so much for freedom and don’t want to jeopardize…

One exciting moment for me I experienced this year at school was entering health class and receiving an 100% on my first test. Everyone, including the health teacher (Mrs.Sauter), was saying it was the most difficult test of the year. Surprisingly, when I took the test I didn’t second guess myself. In fact, I thought out my answers and complete the test as best as I can. Once we were grading other people’s tests I felt confident because I remember what I put in majority of them. Once I received my test back, I couldn’t stop smiling for about 20 minutes! Some people got terrible grades and I felt bad for them so I didn’t really go around out of excitement, saying what I got on my test. Isn’t that a great way to start off the quarter? (3rd…

Video games have always been my favorite pastime. Starting with games as simple as Duck Hunt on the Nintendo Entertainment System, I have always been able to get lost in an interactive world of pixels on a screen meant for my entertainment. Being a child that grew up with modest athletic ability, I spent a lot of my teenage years in front of a computer screen. Games such as World of Warcraft took up years of my time and arguably set me behind academically. Video games were always a place to go to escape and distract myself from real, tangible responsibilities and workloads. Then I found League of Legends. League of Legends is a computer game that taught me how to look at things objectively and how to learn.…

The family is a complex and dynamic institution in India. For many decades, several studies were carried out to understand this complexity. In India, people learn the essential themes of cultural life within the bosom of a family. In most of the country, the basic units of society are the patrilineal family unit and wider kinship groupings. The most widely desired residential unit is the joint family, ideally consisting of three or four patrilineally related generations, all living under one roof, working, eating, worshiping, and cooperating together in mutually beneficial social and economic activities.…
