The Scottsdale Police Department Leadership Training Manual is designed to help the police force working in the City of Scottsdale to enhance the knowledge and skills in handling crime within the city. This training manual is a tool that will be used as a beneficial guide and training workshop to enhance the leaders and police services for the Scottsdale Police Department. There are seven training elements: Element 1-Organizational structure and the impact for leadership, Element 2- The most effective of leadership style, Element 3- Describe how leaders should work with unions, Element 4- Scottsdale Police Departments participation in interagency collaboration, Element 5- The agency address to employee stress, Element 6- leaders motivating …show more content…
The concept of policing entails a comprehensive approach to community service, to focus on the problems that trouble the community and working with the citizens in the community as a team to solve them. Over the years, policing has changed since crime has become more complicated. Policing expanded its technological approach and versatility in an effort to deal with the societal needs in modern technology. In today’s society, Scottsdale Police Department needs to modify and strengthen its leaders, each and every police member, with the addition of the community to engage in, assist, and create the trust that is needed towards a more committed partnership with each other to create an ideal policing …show more content…
Several options to attain a contract settlement without striking is mediation, fact finding, and arbitration. When parties agree to mediation, they have an impartial third person participate in the negotiation. Also, unions create systems of due process for leaders as a means for discipline to be reviewed that reestablish support for leaders or officers as to safeguard their position, rank and file against potential governmental abuse or false allegation.
Scottsdale Police Department leaders should consistent at acknowledging a sort of disputes that unions could give to them. Leaders must be cognizant of union forces and must attempt to strike a necessary balance between the needs of the workers and the needs of the organization. While union efforts aim at organizational alterations, leaders should always to try and obtain effective and productive insight within the department in the changing of the culture.
