Canada i/ˈkænədə/ is a country in North America consisting of ten provinces and three territories. Located in the northern part of the continent, it extends from the Atlantic to the Pacific and northward into the Arctic Ocean. At 9.98 million square kilometres in total, Canada is the world 's second-largest country by total area and the fourth-largest country by land area. Its common border with the United States is the world 's longest land border shared by the same two countries.
The land that is now Canada has been inhabited for millennia by various Aboriginal peoples. Beginning in the late 15th century, British and French colonies were established on the region 's Atlantic coast. As a consequence ofvarious conflicts, the United Kingdom gained and lost North American territories until left, in the late 18th century, with what mostly comprises Canada today. Pursuant to the British North America Act, on July 1, 1867 three colonies joinedto form the autonomous federal dominion of Canada. This began an accretion of provinces and territories to the new self-governing dominion. In 1931, Britain granted Canada full independence in most matters with the Statute of Westminster 1931. The Canada Act 1982 severed the vestiges of legal dependence on the British parliament.
Canada is a federal parliamentary democracy and a constitutional monarchy, with Queen Elizabeth II as its head of state. Canada is a member of the Commonwealth of Nations. The country is officially bilingual at the federal level. It is one of the world 's most ethnically diverse and multicultural nations, the product of large-scale immigration from many countries, with a population of approximately 35 million as of December 2012. Its advanced economy is one of the largest in the world, relying chiefly upon its abundant natural resources and well-developed trade networks. Canada 'slong and complex relationship with the United States has had a significant impact on its economy and culture.

Canada has been through a lot of struggles to become the country it is today. It had specifically had a lot of defining moments in the 20th century. Canada had taken part in a lot of wars and lost many people in the wars they fought. But the wars they fought had defined who they were in a country and how they dealt with it. It showed how they were willing to fight and lessons on what not to do next time.…

Canada was settled by France and Britain, starting from the late 15th century. Then, the former had to cede nearly all of its colonies to Britain in 1763 following the Seven Years’ War. Yet, Canada gradually became independent from Britain, and is now a fully independent state in terms of domestic and foreign policy. Actually, the process of increasing autonomy started in the late 19th century and ended with the Canada Act of 1982 which served as the nation’s legal independence from the British Parliament. However, even with the attainment of nationhood, Canada has not cut ties with its colonial past and its system of government still depends on the British government and holds striking similarities with it.…

In 1867 one of the many European colonies in North America had become an official country, Canada. It only started off with 4 provinces; Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia, but then after time has gathers 10 provinces and 3 territories become one ofthe biggest countries in land mass. In 2017 Canada had just had it 150 anniversary, compared to the majority of countries it just starting it history and identity as it so young. Even in just 150 years Canada has made a large name for itself, it’s a country of peace, equality, diversity, beavers, hockey, Tim Hortons, maple syrup, poutine, overly polite people and the cold! A country is made up stereotypes, but they must come from somewhere and that place is the people in Canada.…

Some have argued that over the past nearly 150 years, Canada has matured and evolved into a "nation" in the sense that it has become "a community of the imagination. " That definition sees a nation as a place where the people within its borders display a sense of common identity, and agree on certain values. I agree to this argument as applied to Canada's evolution since 1867. Canada's identity and values started out very weak after Confederation in 1867. We begin to fully develop a stronger Canadian identity throughout the 150 years, when changes has taken place.…

Canada, the 3.885 million square mile country located directly north of the United States, is the second largest country in the world. It has an extremely diversified population of 35.16 million people, and among this population are French Canadians. There is a lasting influence of French culture, religion, language, and more in Canada. This is due to the fact that it was once French territory; French Canadians currently residing in Canada are descendants of Canada’s colonial-era French settlers. Despite eventually having to give up their territory, known as New France, to the British, there is still a long-lasting influence of the French in Canada.…

In Canada we have a very diverse and unique geography that has molded the way Canadians live, act and get by day to day. I believe that despite the fact that all the regions of Canada diversely different creating the argument that we have no actual national identity because of some provinces that feel they should be independent and become their own countries, though there are many there are many people who would want provinces like Quebec to be their own country i believe Canada wouldn’t be its own unique country without all of its provinces, territories and regions Canada wouldn’t be the country it is today because of its vasts landscapes that are filled with great resources that have kept our country afloat by being able to trade through our large borders and coastlines.…

To be Canadian means to be able to look around you and only see various different shades of green in the many diverse types of trees. It means your body is pumped with adrenaline when your favourite hockey team comes on to the ice, and it’s that moment when you sing the national anthem proud, with a smile on your face. To be Canadian means to respect others opinions and religions, to accept one another no matter the race, religion, or sexuality of another. Canada has been the most accepting country for a very long time now and our peacekeeping title remains the same. Canada is a beautiful country, and I am, along with many others, blessed to live in such a country.…

Many people comment on the fact with the monarchy system, Canada still isn’t fully independent from Britain, with the Queen and her representatives being able to control the Prime Minister. This statement is completely blown out of proportion; first of all the monarch isn’t involved in any of the day-to-day operations of the government. Secondly, there are many examples of the Prime Minister still having much of the power. The Prime Minister can also tell the Governor General when to dissolve parliament. The Parliament still holds most of the power, where the monarch is more seen as a national figurehead. Lastly it keeps the powers of government distributed equally, by making sure the elected head is also not the head of…
