Second Wave Feminism

A stereotype that has more historical backing is the stereotype that, feminism is only for old, white women (Valenti, 2007). The reason for this is first wave feminism focused on the problems faced by middle-class white women. In spite of this, every wave of feminism since then has focused on the trials of women in minorities. Moreover, the very basis for the second wave of feminism was to focus on the issues faced by women in minorities. According to J. Newman and L. White (2006), “The second wave also saw, the appearance of many women’s groups that voiced the concerns of specific women’s identities” (pp. 660).
