“Concerning the origin and historical diversity …show more content…
of life on earth, secular humanists accept the fact of evolution as the essential framework of modern biology. Physico-chemical development paved the way for the origin of life about four billion years ago.” (Council for Democratic and Secular Humanism). (n.d).
As a secular humanist I feel as though there was nothing spontaneous, special or unique that occurred to create humans, we are only animals that evolved into our shapes and forms by way of a coincidence and chemistry, which is the only reasoning that has been found scientifically and makes actual sense. “Now as for those who chose to believe that God created us all, well here is your proof that it was done scientifically. The followers of Jesus Christ think that they were just created by this great miracle and that they are special and unique. This assumption is backed up upon “God created the heavens, the earth, and all that is in them in six normal-length days around 6,000 years ago. “What is a Biblical Worldview?” (n.d). This information alone surely cannot explain life on earth just because the bible says that God did so. Where is the evidence? “The science “information theory” confirms that the first statement of the Bible….Since the information in our DNA can only come from a source of greater information (or intelligence), there must have been something other than matter in the beginning.” “What is a Biblical Worldview?” (n.d). This definitely does explain that something more had to have occurred but there is still not enough confirmation to convince me that it was God who so.
“We must be fair at this point.
There are those who come from an atheistic worldview belief system in which everything on this planet has evolved and humans are no more valuable than any living creature, so all life deserves to be protected whether animal or human.” (Weider & Gutierrez). (2013). Simply stated, humans and animals are of equal value because we were animals too; we just evolved thanks to science. “Comparative DNA studies show that humankind shares a common ancestry with the three great apes (orangutan, chimpanzee and gorilla).” (Council for Democratic and Secular Humanism.) (n.d). Thus explains how humans were actually created and can be proven by scientific research. Basically a physical change in chemistry does not actually take the essence and change it to something different, it stays the same. Whereas a chemical change or a chemical rejoinder takes the essence and changes it to make it new-fangled; it does not remain the same. So therefore, when humans and I mean all humans, not just African Americans are referred to as apes or monkeys, it is relatively true. “God clearly says that people (male and female) are superior to animals Gen 1:26; Psalm 8:4-8.” (The Superiority of Humans to Animals in God’s Plan, (2005). “Men are more intelligent than animals Job 35:10, 11; Psalms 73:22; Hosea 7:11; Psalms 32:9.” (The Superiority of Humans to Animals in God’s Plan), (2005). Again, we continue to see only one source used for proof based on what the Bible states, I am not saying this information is untrue. I am however stating that there is a huge lack of evidence that I have been able to retrieve that supports humans and animals are not the
same.
Human beings do not have a real reason of existence. It is all based upon that particular person on what they choose or see fir for their lives. There is no type of divine reason or purpose, we were all coincidently created. “Humanism is a democratic and ethical lifestance which affirms that human beings have the right and responsibility to give meaning and shape to their own lives.” (Definition of Humanism). (2017). It is up to you what you make of yourself! “The purpose of life is to love and serve God in order to help bring about God’s glorious plan for creation.” (Human Nature and the Purpose of Existence). ( 2008-2017) Biblically, it is believed that we exist to please God and help make sure the plan He set in place. It is unnecessary to have a rule book to show you how to be a good person. These are traits that are taught to you from child hood if you choose otherwise than that is up to you and there are state laws where your acts can be punished. We already have state laws why would we need and extra set of laws?
We just know what we should not be doing. We are taught as children right and wrong. The only people who can really basically judge so are law enforcement and or state laws. It is not hard to see why we should not do some of the “bad” things like murder and robbery. I do know that again, it does not require a Bible to tell us so. That is basically common sense. “Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter.” (Isaiah 5:20, King James Version). From a biblical point, they feel as though it is not always so black and white, that there is need for a bit more clarification because it may not always just be “murder and robbery.” There are other aspects like homosexuality and things of that nature that are actually legal in the states but had cities burnt down in the Bible days. Instead of falling susceptible to all the things you see of the world you will need some guidance to help you resist these things.
“From the contradictory requirements for admission to Heaven, to the problem of free will for its disembodied residents, to the confusion over Heaven’s actual location, Martin shows plainly that the idea of Heaven is simply irreconcilable, even (and especially) for true religious believers.” (Heaven is Not for Real: The Afterlife Myth Dismantled in Free Inquiry). (2017).
For Christians, there is no reason to fear the thought of dying or when, if, how or why you are going to die. That is solely because it is believed that once you leave your physical body, you will live eternally and go to your real home with God. We die and then go to Heaven or Hell based on the life you chose to live and who you chose to serve. God will judge each person based on life actions and choices made while on earth and there you will receive your eternally fate. It is believed that you should try and live as transparent and fair as possible so that in the end you will not die but live eternally.
