Do you feel safe as you walk into high school everyday? The hard truth is that most people want security in this world, not liberty. When the security of others becomes involved in certain situations, suddenly liberty or privacy does not seem so important.
Even though many students feel that security cameras would invade their privacy, schools should have security cameras because students would feel more protected. Security camera is an effective medium to reduce the increasing crime and to control the situation.
Students think of security cameras as an invasion of their privacy. Students would feel uncomfortable with the fact of a stranger watching their every move throughout the day. Many of them oppose the need for cameras protecting them since less than 1% of all homicides among school-aged children occur in or around school grounds or on the way to and from school.
Even though many students consider security cameras an invasion of privacy, schools should have them because students would have a better academic performance. Once students know that someone is constantly watching them, they will become more careful with what they do or say in classrooms for example cheating or disrespecting their teachers. Another example that would improve the students performance in school is that teachers willtake more consideration into how they teach their classes knowing that they are being supervised.
