Body cameras will catch all misconduct, either from a civilian or a police officer on camera and will be used in an investigation if need be. Police departments got the idea to use body cameras because of the recent complaining of civilians over, said to be police misconduct. When police officers wear their body cameras, police misconduct decreases due to the fact that they will have video proof of the encounter and will be prosecuted if that is what’s needed. Also, complaints from civilians will decrease as well, because of the drop in police misconduct. Since 2009 - 2010 police misconduct and civilian complaints have decreased significantly. Although, there are a lot of good that can come from the body cameras. In other words, the body cameras can be used to reduce any incidents that may occur. These body cameras even have misconduct unrelated use; Such as, upcoming police officer training, monitoring of the police officers that work in your local police departments. In conclusion, body cameras should be used all over the United States, to improve our country and decrease the amount of complaints by citizens, and police misconduct cases. Also by using the body cameras would ultimately decrease crime and death rates, especially when there are unnecessary shootings that take place. Body cameras can ultimately only improve and better the nation, by putting away the bad and bettering the good; Which is the prime reason for using the body cameras. Using body cameras will increase ‘Professionalism’ in the departments, by getting rid of the untrustworthy police officers and recognizing the good ones. Body cameras will also improve how civilians act when they get caught doing any criminal activity, because it is statically proven that people act better when they are on camera.
