A. Selena was born in 1971 to Abraham and Marcella Quintanilla (SelenaForever). 1. She was born in Lake Jackson, Texas. a. The doctors thought that when Selena 's mom was experiencing pregnancy symptoms that she had a tumor that needed to be removed, but going back for a second opinion, it turned out she was pregnant. b. After learning of the pregnancy, both parents picked the name Marc Antony, convinced they were having a boy, but when Marcella gave birth to a girl, they chose the name Selena at the suggestion of her hospital roommate. 2. Selena had two siblings, a brother and a sister, whose names were A.B. and Suzette (Selena). a. Abraham, Selena 's dad, taught them both to play instruments, A.B. played the bass and Suzette the drums. b. Selena wanted to learn how to play an instrument, but at the time Abraham told her she was too young, so she decided to sing.
B. Selena was motivated heavily by her father to pursue music (Selena). 1. Selena 's dad, Abraham Quintanilla, had formed a band called "Los Dinos" when he was younger and it did not hit due to limited opportunities. a.
