Selena Quintanilla
Selena is a very well known name in the Latin­American community. She started her music career while she was still a child with her dad's group Los Dinos. Selena married her lead guitarist and ended up being killed by her "biggest fan." After her death Selena became even more popular. Selena Quintanilla Perez was born to Mexican­American parents Abraham Quintanilla Jr. and Marcella Otelia Samora on April 16, 1971. She has two older siblings, her brothers name is
Abraham and sister is Suzette. Selena was nine years old when her father started a family musical group called “Selena y Los Dinos.” Their father always had a strong passion for music.
In the late 50’s and early 60’s, he was part of a group called “Los Dinos” meaning “the guys” in
English. That’s the history of how “Selena y Los Dinos” became the family group name. In the group, Suzette played the drums, while A.B her brother played bass which also he would produce her music while Selena wrote the songs. in 1980’s “Selena y Los Dinos” performed for the first time at the Quintanilla family restaurant “Papa Gayos” until it went bankrupt.
Selena fell in love with the lead guitarist Chris Perez. Her father did not like the idea of
Selena having feelings for this man, until the day they got married. Selena married Chris on
April 2, 1992. Selena was suppose to have a concert that day in El Paso, Texas but she had the idea to get married instead. They ran away because her father did not allow them to be together and got married. She waited a day or two to go talk with her father. Finally he realized the Chris was best for Selena and she deserved to be happy. One of her biggest dreams were to have her own farm. Nearly towards the end of her life, she and Chris had purchased 10 acres of land just the outside of Corpus Christi, on which they planned to build a farm, raise horses, and build a

house of their own. They also planned on having children once her career settled down a little. It
