Self-Image
It helped me realize how I feel about everything that is going on in my life where my priorities are and what I need to do to change how I feel about certain things. The only way things in my life can change is if I change them. Becoming a better person every day that I am blessed to wake up is all that I can do. Having a dream and a goal to succeed and achieve to be the best that I can possibly be is a great accomplishment. Understanding my weakness and my strengths will only make me more of a greater person. Changing the way that you feel about certain situations in life will only benefit you in the end. Being negative will only bring negativity. Understand yourself, and be aware of the things that you need to change is the first step. Being positive no matter what the situation is going to help you through so much in life even though it may be gray outside it can still be sunny in your heart. Positive thinking is not something that will fall one day from the sky but it needs effort and skills to be able to achieve it. Our thoughts have the attribute to pass and be stored in our subconscious, which can affect our behavior and our reactions. Our thoughts have also the ability to enter the subconscious of others around us. The thoughts we share with other people are predisposing them positively or negatively towards us. They can create feelings of love and respect or feelings of anger. Our thoughts create action and reaction not only in our mental world but also in the world around us. I believe that the foundation of a successful life has a lot more to do with attitude than it does with aptitude. Success isn't as hard to achieve as you may think it is. There are so many ways to succeed but with all of these ways there is one thing that they all have in common. That is you. You

I believe that positive psychology gives a better understanding that we are able to improve the quality of our own lives by making positive decisions and learning from experiences in the past. Positive psychology attempts to encourage interpersonal relationships, happiness, and positive social interactions. Personal growth and our ability to control our own destiny are also factors of positive psychology. In my opinion positive psychology teaches us that we have the freedom to make autonomous choices in life even though the negative influences still surround us. Through the incremental theory, positive psychology has stressed the amount of importance of human adjustment as a malleable cognitive characteristic that encourages change in our beliefs, behaviors, and environments; in order to acquire personal freedom through self-control and self-esteem…

Mirror, mirror on the wall, who’s the prettiest and skinniest of them all? The average woman sees 400 to 600 advertisements per day, and by the time she is 17 years old, she has received over 250,000 commercial messages through the media (Body Image and Advertising). By the mid-1950s, television had become an established part of the furniture in the majority of American homes (Petley). The media has a powerful influence on teenager’s body image through print, electronic, and television advertisements.…

People’s health can be affected by a positive attitude because if they are sad all the time they have little to look forward to in the future. Even doctors agree that people who look at the bright side of things could potentially survive longer. In fact, “Research has found a link between an upbeat mental state and improved health, including lower blood pressure, reduced risk for heart disease, healthier weight, better blood sugar levels, and longer life” (US Department of Health and Human Services). Having a positive attitude is good for people dealing with everyday life stressors. For people in more difficult situations, remaining optimistic can be even more beneficial. Other Experts disagree with the importance of positive thinking. For example, in “The Positive Power of Negative Thinking”, the author states, “Defensive Pessimism involves learning to tolerate negative emotions in order to get things done” (Norem). She says that positive thinking is actually a hinderance to actually dealing with problems. The concern being that action not thoughts change situations. Dr. Norem states that “Defensive pessimism involves learning to tolerate negative emotions in order to get things…

In many ways a positive frame can give somebody strength to not give up. Karen Griffith was told that she would need an aortic valve replacement, Karen knew that was the end constantly, but it wasn’t. Moreover Ms. Griffith could've thought of all negative things that could have possibly happened to her, but she got through with a positive attitude. (Griffith’s) Occasionally people have to get through conflict alone, although that only makes them believe in themselves more and more. Melba Pattillo is living proof that anybody who is able to believe can get through anything. (Pattillo). Any conflict can be fixed, some problems are 100% fixed while others are not. Positive emotions broaden people's sense of possibility.…

Procrastination and typing are two challenges that concern me the most about my online learning. I sometimes important things off until last minute typically because I get busy doing other things and forget about them .I usually think about them at the last minute and try to hurry to get things done. Did you know that 80% of women say that the images if women in television and in movies, fashion magazines, and advertising makes them feel insecure? Body Images is a growing problem among our society today. Some people believe that Body Image is something that come purely from the mind. they day its not influenced by media. Others believe that Body Image is something that can be influenced easily by media and magazines. They say society is influenced by the pressure to be skinny. This situation has the potential to be awkward, but it is certainly salvageable. I think that mentioning Toya’s high level of responsibility and her ability to be a “self-starter” was a very good opening to this conversation about her first few weeks on the job. Making an interrogative statement about, “how Toya could improve her work” was a bit of a mistake in my opinion. It put Toya, who is already a bit insecure, on the defensive. Of course, Toya could have answer the question with something like, I would welcome any suggestion on my improving my work, but most people are not quite that confident, especially during their their first week of employment when they might be in a probationary period and have a reasonable fear of losing her job.…

While I was in the hospital, I was taught many things, but none were as important as self thought. I was taught thinking negative will make you act negative. If I think bad things are going to happen all of the time, they probably will. However, this is a two way street. If I think positive thoughts, I will act positive and life will be much better. This is how I overcame depression. All of my life my biggest enemy was myself, but after everything I went through, I ended up being my biggest asset. The most important part of helping me think a certain way was through prayer and the grace of…
