Born April 15, 1452 in the Tuscan hill town of Vinci, was born with no surname his full name being "Leonardo di ser Piero da Vinci", meaning "Leonardo, son of (Mes)ser Piero from Vinci." Little is known of Leonardo’s early up bringing besides him spending his first five years of life in the household of his father, grandparents and uncle, Francesco, in the small town of Vinci. His father had married a sixteen-year-old girl named Albiera, who admired and loved Leonardo but died an early death having a strong impact on him. Another thing to know about Leonardo to help you understand his early art is that Court records of 1476 show that Leonardo along three other young men were charged with sodomy, and there are no records of his whereabouts for the year to follow. Leonardo received an informal education in Latin, geometry and mathematics. People spoke of Leonardo’s personality ,imagination and level of intelligence as super human.
Leonardo’s self-portrait exhibits many aspects of the principles of design. Leonardo used red colored chalk to illustrate himself he has also used small consistent line strokes on the beard to give it a melting like texture, rounding shape that complements the top of his head and it gives the portrait movement while the corresponding lines of the beard give it rhythm, also his clever way of shading gives the painting balance and symmetry because he has shaded the left side very dark and leaves the right side with a very light shading making his balance give off tension. Leonardo gives his eyes dominance in the photo by heavily darkening them in and the details around grabbing the interest of the viewer. The overlapping lines in Leonardo’s beard seem to create a sense of unity making the whole facial structure blend together. Varity is not used much here in my opinion because of how well the portrait is balanced the only example I can find of Varity is the

The style used to paint this art was an original one. Leonardo tried a brand new style of his own to paint this piece. He used a combination of tempera paints with stone. This made the paint not dry as fast so he did not have to feel rushed. He also did it to give it a more vibrant and unique color. The downside was that the paint eventually chipped and shattered so…

After reviewing the drawing by Leonardo, I was kind of able to understand the creative process that his drawing projected. What I interpreted from this piece of work is that he wanted to project to the viewers that this piece clearly expresses his opinions and views, as well as the sharing and learning values within it. A multitude of aspects are projected in all of his pieces, but he remains to give attention to his main focuses which are quality, experience, and nature. In all of Leonardo completed pieces, it allows you to see how he lived his life as an artist and his other expertise’s. The way he views an individual’s physical capabilities seems to be contributed from his long list of expertise, which for its quality is enhancing it as a sign of admiration. Motion is depicted in the images that we see, like helicopters, hum-powered carriages, and military hardware. There is very many design elements Leonardo uses in his pieces, which ensure that there is creativity, quality, interest, and ideas incorporated into his pieces just for his viewers.…

He was born to Ser Piero, a respected Florentine notary, and Caterina, a young peasant woman (Bortolon, 1967). Having been born out of wedlock, Leonardo was raised by his father along with his stepmothers. At five, he relocated to his father’s family land that was close to Vinci, the Tuscan town from which Leonardo’s surname was derived, and stayed with his grandparents and uncle (Bortolon, 1967). Under Andrea, he learned several technical skills such as metalworking, carpentry, leather arts, sculpting, drawing, and painting. The artwork I made for this self portrait project incorporates two approaches of both collage and drawing. It shows a composition of these massive figures of me. And each of them is making a different gestures. Composition is one of the most powerful elements that contribute to build my piece. This is an asymmetrical composition because it has similar visual weights in two sides. Figures in both two sides are filled with decorate tapes, each of them has different pattern. They all come together and create a sense of harmony in entire drawing. The overall composition is arranged in a horizontal view. A large figure placed in center is the focal point, because it only has a black outline but no color painted in it. Made this figure stands out first in the image.…
