When you post a photo of oneself or a selfie, you allow random people on internet to criticize you and your picture and even though you won’t see them you will be bothered if they post a mean comment about it and nothing much you can do about it. In chapter 4, we learn how Essena O’Neill wasn’t happy with what she was doing. “She launched a new website to encourage young girls to talk about how they really feel... (9)”, but Syme goes on to show her research we see something odd. As stated “Right away the backlash began: Critics called her lament a hoax, argued that she was a hypocrite (9).” Essena was 18 and she was trying to make herself feel better and other girls who were unhappy.
