Description
The IMF Communications Department is the International Monetary Fund's strategic center for communication. It develops and coordinates the IMF's external and internal communications strategy, shapes the key messages of the IMF, advises IMF management and staff on how best to convey key messages, and monitors and responds to what people outside the IMF say about the institution and its activities. The department is based at the IMF's headquarters in Washington, D.C. The Public Affairs Division) is responsible for
1. promoting understanding and support of the IMF through contacts with the public (non-media).
2. The division disseminates information about the Fund, initiates dialogue and debate, and builds relationships with critical stakeholders and umbrella organizations—including parliamentarians, labor unions, think tanks, youth groups and civil society organizations.
Under the supervision of the Chief of the Public Affairs Division, the candidate’s main responsibilities will include:
3. Devise and implement an effective strategy of outreach and engagement with parliamentarians, including U.S. Congress.
4. Advise senior IMF staff on public engagements involving legislatures, by identifying speaking opportunities, and organizing high-level meetings for IMF Management.
5. Contribute to the implementation of the IMF’s communication strategy by devising effective outreach strategies to external stakeholders that focus on the work of the Fund. This will involve close and effective collaboration with colleagues across the IMF.
6. Stay current on main issues of concern to the IMF and its members, as well issues of relevance to external stakeholders. He/she should have the ability to investigate these issues, design messages and identify key players.
