The science fiction genre has always been associated with content that diverges from norms while testing philosophical bounds. The genre has more currently become the hub for diversity and representation in media. Popular broadcasted shows such as Heroes and Orphan Black sport (a varied cast with engaging plotlines however, fail to go beyond the surface of true global diversity. The sci-fi drama Sense8 (Wachowski & Straczynski, 2015) has followed Netflix’s trend of creating media that leaves audiences both engaged and aware of the world beyond themselves.
