A Raisin in the Sun
~ sequel by Vasile Garbulet ~
-Well Mr. and Ms. Kelly, this is the house. It has three bedrooms, a large kitchen, a living room with chimney and a beautiful backyard with lots of flowers.
-Indeed Mr. Younger, this is a beautiful house, but tell us more about it. You said you’re the son of its previous owner. And did you live here for the last ten years?
-Yes. My grandmother paid ten years ago a down payment towards the house. I was only ten, but I still remember the day when we moved in. We were all very excited with our new home and each one of us had his own thoughts about the future. Of course mine were connected only to the present. I could not imagine how things will turn up and the impact this house will have on our lives. I was only glad to have my own room and not to sleep on a couch anymore. I was also very glad to have a backyard where to play with my buddies, Jimmy and Paul. But our excitement was soon over. On the first night after we moved in, we were awakened by a terrible scream that was coming from my grandma’s room. I remember how I jumped out of my bed and ran to see what was happening. My grandma’s room was facing the front lawn where a huge white cross was burning. I could not understand what was the meaning of it but I was very scared and I saw the same fear in my grandma’s eyes, while on my father’s face was only anger and disgust. That was only the beginning. Although the malefactors were found and arrested, we were never left alone. One by one, they took my family out of this neighborhood; dead or alive. First was my aunt, Beneatha. It appears that our neighbor, Mr. Miller was good friend with Mr. Loudon, who was the dean of the Medical Institute of Chicago. He was also Beneatha’s professor of chemistry and anatomy. One day she was summoned in Mr. Loudon’s office and she was told she had to convince her family to sell the house in Clybourne Park
