Servant Evangelism Report
Encounter 1
Part One: What were the circumstances surrounding your servant evangelism encounter?
I met Meghan on a double date with my boyfriend and his best friend Corey. We all went to dinner and then were going to go see a movie afterwards. The conversation started because Matt and I asked her and Corey if they would be ok with us giving thanks for our meal. She was not surprised we wanted to pray, but was surprised that it was not just the generic “God is good, God is great, thank you for the food we ate.”

Part Two: What was the reaction (questions/comments/statements) of the unbeliever?
The first thing Meghan asked was, “Are you one of those Christian people who really believes in God or just one that goes to church on Sunday?” I was surprised at her forwardness but told her that while I go to church on Sunday’s with Matt and my family, I do my best to not just be a “Sunday Christian” and do everything for God’s glory. She was very receptive of my answer but when I inquired to her beliefs, she did not want to discuss them any further. During this, Matthew was very interested in the conversation, but Corey seemed very uncomfortable. He was squirming the entire time and didn’t have much to say after our conversation ended. Corey is not a believer and does not like to discuss his beliefs. Later on, when we were saying goodbye after the movie, I spoke with Meghan again on the topic of beliefs and she gave me her number for us to get together and discuss my faith in more detail. She said that the reason she did not wish to discuss the topic further during our meal was because of Corey. She knew that it made him uncomfortable to talk about it and didn’t want to upset him. However, she was very interested in learning more about becoming a Christian, and allowed me to pray for her before we left.

Part Three: Conclude with an evaluation of servant evangelism.
While I would have liked to have talked more with her about my faith at dinner, I am very

A great chasm exists that separates unbelievers from believers1. An example of this chasm is presented in the Gospel of Luke, “And in hell he lifted up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off and Lazarus in his bosom.”2 The chasm is presented in the “afar off” statement. This chasm, as pointed out by David Wheeler and Richard Leach, is what makes evangelism necessary. Essentially, every Christian is to seek a way to bridge these chasms bringing the unbeliever face-to-face with their Creator3. In order to perform this great task, and the task was as great in the Apostles’ day as today, “Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few; Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest”4 the Christian servant today must rely on the Lord in every aspect and seek out opportunities to present Christ to those around him. Seeing then that there is such great work ahead, and the laborers have been assigned their task, “For he whom God hath sent speaketh the words of God: for God giveth not the Spirit by measure unto him”5, the only success to be found is through sharing the faith by the Word of God through the Spirit…

Servant leadership focuses on the needs of the employees and the stockholders instead of the needs of the leader of the organization. In his book Share Jesus Without Fear, William Fay lays out an easy and attainable way for one to reach people for Christ. A former mobster, and prostitution house owner, Fay says that if “God can take somebody like me and change him, he can take anybody in your life and change him as well.”1 In an easy to understand, comprehensive way, Fay shows how to overcome your fears and witness to those who are lost. By breaking down the six most common excuses one uses not to evangelize, he shows how to overcome the roadblocks that we place on ourselves. For instance, one of the fears he addresses is the fear of rejection. Fay points out that one must realize that this is not a contest. He says, “success is sharing your faith and living your life for Jesus Christ. It has nothing to do with bringing anyone to the Lord.”2 He goes on to say that it takes someone 7.6 times of hearing the Gospel before they give their lives to Christ. Just because you may have been the 3rd, does not mean that it didn’t make a difference. Throughout the book Fay lays out questions to ask, verses to go to, and objections that you will encounter, to lay out a way for you to share your faith with others without excuse.…

Since then it has grown to almost 1,150,666 members. It runs through the Protestant Church and they believe in the Holiness Movement. As of currently its headquarters is in London and they can be located in 127 different countries. many of those who call themselves preachers of the gospel today must learn the meaning of this expression of God's word. This is because real battlefields have been caught in the outreach activities of the churches, in the sense of attack with aggressive words the hearers of Christ's gospel. When we say that the gospel of grace means "good news" is because it must be nice to be…

As apart of my service, I assisted in helping the community as well as others through the Notre Dame Annual Pilgrimage, Harvest Kitchen at St. Kevin’s Roman Catholic Church and participating in the Notre Dame Walk Against Male Violence. In October of 2010, I walked and raised money for the annual Pilgrimage at our school which involved trudging the distance from our school to the Allenburg Bridge. The money raised assisted those in third world countries mainly going to a facility called Yancana Huasy intended for the use by mentally and physically challenge young adults. The money is also sent to Haiti, Peru and the Dominican. As a volunteer for Harvest Kitchen my responsibility was to help deliver the meals to the people as well as work the handicap elevator in order to assist immobile people. Other duties included clearing dishes, socializing with others, setting up and serving food and drinks. Lastly, I also participated in the Walk Against Male Violence in which I was required to raise money and walk the 5 Kilometers as a method of raising awareness and money for abused women.…

She presented me a bunch of supplies that the foundation gave me for college. I was so surprised when I saw a full of car of items such as a laptop computer, toiletries, and other necessary things for college that I did not think to bring. I felt so grateful to have a person to take their time to pick out every little thing for me, especially since we both don’t like shopping. I didn’t expect so much and was in total shock. I was glad to have her there on such a nerve wracking day. She definitely expressed more excitement than I did. I was so nervous, full of anxiety, and didn’t even want to be there. The thought of being a college student scared me. I felt the excitement she gave off, which helped me relieve the stress I had on that day. That was only one of the many experiences I had with…
