Slide Seven / Long Term SMART GOALS I have created three long term short goals that will allow me to become a more effective and respected Servant Leader.
In Servant Leadership respect is something that comes by the employee’s actions not from fear but appreciation. Appreciation of the simplest things in life being treated Human and with dignity. My first Long Term SMART Goal is to complete my Master’s Degree at Western Governors University in Management and Leadership. I believe that through further investigation of who I am as a leader and defining my strengths and weaknesses through the master’s program I will elevate my ability to perform as a Servant Leader. I have heard on occasion that Knowledge is Power, I am hoping that the knowledge I gain will provide me the power to change my leadership style through research and evaluation of my leadership
practices. The second Leadership goal I have set for myself is to create and develop a training program for the managers I support within five years. It is my hope that through further knowledge I will assist others in understanding their leadership styles. Through their search for their leadership style they too can also identify their strengths and weaknesses. Once understanding these strengths and weaknesses they can formulate goals and objectives that will allow them to grow their leadership skills and become effective and refined leaders. My third and final SMART GOAL is to continue my education. I have set a goal that for my entire existence that I continue to pursue leadership guidance and further my knowledge related to management and leadership. This goal has several specific measurements I will attend a minimum of two development and leadership seminars or conferences per year. I will also take advantage of any formal and informal training I am afforded to attend when at all possible. The hope is the continued learning and training will allow me to further refine my leadership practices while also evaluating new and relevant developments in Servant Leadership.
