As a transformational leader, the focus is more on the intellectual than the servant leaders. The servant leader is more focused on the developing their follower’s personal growth with emphasizes on their personal growth. These different focuses illustrate the servant leader’s focus on individual development and the transformational leader’s focus on organizational development. (Lowder, 2009) Servant leaders also place more emphasis on emotional levels, focusing on behaviors associated with valuing individuals. Transformational leaders focus more on taking risks to obtain organizational success that includes eliminating ineffective processes and systems. Authentic leadership also centers on building trust and even building on individual and team performance. With that being said there are components of transformational and servant leadership that come into play even with the tenants of authentic leadership. For example, in a situation where I am challenged as a leader because of an organizational decision, there needs to be an intellectual summation of the situation even as the ethical tenant is expressed. Along with this authentic and transformational leadership quality, the servant leadership principal comes into play as we make decisions that affect employees and how they react to decisions in the grand scheme.
