Recently the shift has been placed upon the sex trafficking of American children within the United States. From a federal standpoint policy was enacted that could not be controlled on local community levels are prosecution and restorative care rested on state governmental agents (Dysart, 2013). State entities have fallen short on implementation of comprehensive and protective laws for minors that are sexually exploited. It was not until an initiative was developed by Shared Hope International in 2010, the Protected Innocence Initiative, that ideologies were being shared for inclusion into state policy as a promise to make safer settings for children by eliminating sex trafficking (Dysart, 2013). Each state was being analyzed for deficiencies in minor sex trafficking laws that addressed criminalization of the issue, delinquency inadequacies, and law enforcement techniques in relation to those case investigated due to child sex trafficking. Through awareness of weaknesses efforts could be made to rectify and improve the work being done on behalf of these vulnerable children. To understand that policy was not being followed appropriately lead way to a means to rectify the problematic issues. Awareness has been critical in this quest to do right by child victims of the sex
