Tina Frund: A Victim Of Sex Trafficking
Have you ever saw a girl on the street and wonder how she got there? In today’s world people are quick to criticize. No one thinks about what cause her to go down that road. The girl was forced to be sex trafficked at the age of six. Her family had to sell her due to financial reasons. Sex trafficking is real, all around us, and we don’t realize it because we don’t really understand it.
Sex trafficking is when humans are being sold forcefully to pleasure costumers, they don’t receive any benefits. Tina Frund was a victim of sex trafficking, how she got into that field was she fell in love at a young age with a man. He gave her the world when she finally went to meet with his family he turned out to be a pimp and kept her there far away from her home. She worked on the street if she didn’t make enough for the night you couldn’t go back to the whore house. “Pimps prey on young women or runaway girls because they can be easily manipulated and have control” (Frund). See pimps can find their victims weakness and make it seem like there is no way out , even when the victims escape they will probably end up in prostitution. Sex trafficking is all around the world, people have many testimonies in other countries.
“20 to 30 million were reported by victims around the world”(11 facts). That’s a lot of our population of sex trafficking and we can’t even tell. It takes years to catch sex trafficking in the act to make an arrest. That’s why “sex trafficking is the 3rd largest crime industry (11 facts). It’s really hard to tell who are victims and who chooses that lifestyle:but there are stereotypes of sex trafficking, women aren’t the only
victims.
You hardly ever hear men getting trafficked or raped on the news, doesn’t mean it’s happening. The numbers may not be as high as women but it does happen. In Chin’s article he uses Summer Ghlias quote “The percentage of male victims may be higher due to the unreported and subversive nature of crime” (Chin). The “nature of crime” seems like it isn’t normal for men, because men are stronger than women. Some cases have been dismissed because today many people are sexist. Women can use men’s mind as a weakness. The John ”40% of males in the John Jay Study served a female (Chin).
