Sex Trafficking In Schools

Slavery was a horrible period that our country looks down upon, and to see it happening again with little effort to end the new slavery is horrifying. Sex trafficking is a big money making an illegal industry that, “-Has an estimated revenue of $87 million everyday”(Heffern). This is money the traffickers make off buying and selling other humans. The victims of sex trafficking go through large amounts of trauma that they may never recover from. According to Tina Frundt, a writer at the Women’s Funding Network, one girl from Florida, who wants to be called Sacharay, was forced to have sex with 40 guys in one day (Frundt). The solution to putting an end to sex trafficking is to educate others and raise awareness. People go about their day, not thinking of any problems because it does not affect them. Little do they know, among other world problems, slavery is going on right under their noses. Isn’t that horrifying?
Within educating students of this issue, the health department of schools will need to teach the three signs of identifying a sex trafficker. The three signs of identifying a sex trafficker is instant love, job promises, and the traffickers willingness to pay. Next, the schools will teach students how to react when they identify a sex trafficker or a victim. The students are to report what they see, or suspect they see, to the sex trafficking hotline. Education will not only make students understand the realities of sex trafficking, but will make them more aware of this worldwide issue.
