When Carlson says “What the hell ya suppose is eatin them two guys?” what is significant about that line is that he is saying what will eat them other than the birds picking at their bodies. I think they wanted to know what was going to happen to their bodies instead of just laying there dead what was going to happen to them. I think that as a person Carlson has no feelings or emotions of other people. I would infer that most of the men are feeling is some sorrow but carelessness.
