The two types of sexual traumas include date rape risk and adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse. According to James and Gilliland (2013), sexual perverts and aberrant individuals prowling in a dark alley are not always the ones that commit sexual assaults. In addition, some assault victims are family members, friends, or colleagues. Furthermore, it is stated that sexual assaults and rapes are considered extreme and different according to the degree, force, and character compared to other crisis.
Date Rape Risk
The estimated of rapes in the United State are 19.3 percent for women and 1.7 percent for men that are raped in a lifetime (Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), 2011). In essence, the reason that the number is so low is because most rapes are not reported. James et. al. (2013) claimed college student survivors who have experienced date rape are more likely to have been sexual abused as a child. Moreover, no only are there date drugs, but alcohol is considered to part of date rape risk. Date rape has been in the news lately.
