Shakespeare Themes In Romeo And Juliet's Life Today
To Be Relevant or Not To Be Relevant
I will be analyzing how one of Shakespeare themes In Romeo & Juliet are still evident in life today. The theme I will be focusing on is Love. Movies in today’s society are still revolving around Romeo and Juliet, for instance, The Lion King: Simba Pride, Gnomeo & Juliet. Arafat & Huda's. A real life story of a Romeo and Juliet story, how feud is in Westside story. Ever since the play Romeo and Juliet a majority of movies and real life event and revolved around Romeo and Juliet.
Many movies in this era are remakes of Shakespeare’s work most of them being remakes of the famous play Romeo and Juliet. A major theme in this play is love. One of the many movies is the Lion king 2 made by Disney. This movie plot line comes very close to Romeo and Juliet theme of love and thing is keeping them apart. The feuding families become two warring New York City gangs- the white Jets led by The Riff and the Puerto Rican Sharks, led by Bernardo. Their hatred escalates to a point where neither can coexist with any form of understanding. This closing relates to the feuding between the Montagues and the Capulets. The feuding causes of death in both the movie and the book. “A plague a' both your houses! I am sped.” (Act 3 Scene 1). Feuds were in both these movies this movie was made recently making Shakespeare and his themes relevant.
Shakespeare is still relevant in today’s society such as. Modern movies being made around the idea for Romeo and Juliet, the theme love is shown in these movies. The Lion King 2, and Gnomeo and Juliet. Even real – life event have happened that corresponds with Romeo and Juliet. The movie west side story also was made around the play.
