Through out the course of this school year, we have learned and examined multiple civilizations. For this project, we had to create our own ultimate civilization-gathering achievements from other civilizations and piecing them together to from the perfect Utopia.
Like with Mesopotamia, Ancient Egypt, Ancient China, Ancient Greece and just about every early civilization-location played a vital role in the upbringing and culture of the peoples. My civilization resides in where the Sumerians lived; Mesopotamia, between the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers, largely corresponding to modern-day Iraq, northeastern Syria, southeastern Turkey and southwestern Iran. It was surrounded by four large water sources (excluding the two rivers,) Mediterranean Sea, Persian Gulf, Caspian Sea and Red Sea. Fish became in important dietary supplement, due to the close proximity to water- however, other means of protein included apples, pears, grapes, figs, quinces, plums, apricots, mulberries, melons, and pomegranates-pistachio nuts were also enjoyed. These people originated from religious migrations from South Asia. People who practiced Buddhism were pushed out of India out of the growing popularity of the Hindu faith. While peacefully converting people, many people decided to settle there and form their own society. Because Buddhism is such a peaceful religion, focusing on selflessness and letting go of all desires-they had no trouble intermingling with the native’s there-who accepted the new belief willingly. Family played a vital role in the house; much similar to the belief of filial piety (adopted from the Qin Dynasty-China) You were expected to focus primarily on mindfulness and compassionate communication and on how to integrate compassion and wisdom in your family life. Out of all the civilizations that we have learned about, my city structure will be based on that of the Indus Valley cities- the systems of sewerage and drainage that were developed and used in
