Shilderijen En Portretten Analysis

The artwork I chose is called Schilderijen en Portretten by Harry Emans that he created in 1998. Schilderijen en Portretten subjects matter is what the picture means. This subject matter means to me fear because of how tightly the man clinches onto the rope dangling down into the deep hole that seems to a very tall building. The painting can also be looked at as someone climbing from their old or bad habits. As you look down you can see demons alongside the walls of the painting, but where he is now, which is closer to God or good. However you want to look at it.
