Shindler's List Essay

The time of World War II was only a time of suffering and torment. Steven Spielberg perfectly demonstrates these emotions in the movie Shindler’s List. Originally a book, Shindler’s List is a true tale about a man by the name of Oscar Schindler; thought the story Schindler save over a thousand Jewish people lives by placing them in his factory. While watching this film people can’t help but wonder was Schindler really a good man or was he simply in all of this for the money. Spielberg identifies that Schindler is a good man by adding the character Amon, a ruthless Nazi captain. Schindler was a great man even though he was originally in the movement for the money. Schindler always ended up doing the right thing. For example, when the people get put into the concentration camp and start working for Schindler. One of the men making the hinges was going to slow and the Nazi soldiers want to kill the man, but
Amon was head of a concentration camp in Poland during world war two. Thought the movie Amon kills and abuses the Jewish people for no reason. For example, Helen is in the wine cellar doing nothing, and Amon comes down and starts talking to her. Helen doesn’t respond and he gets mad at her for no reason and beats her. On the other hand there is Schindler who never killed and in facts saved many Jews. For instance, when the Schindler’s Jews are getting back on the train to leave Auschwitz and the Nazis try to take the children out of line. Schindler stops the soldiers, and saves the kids. He would have saved a lot of money if he just left the kids there, but that was not who he was. Furthermore, Amon tells Schindler that he believes power is killing people and showing dominance. As for Schindler believed that power is gained from not killing people but saving them and forgiving. That is the biggest difference between the two is how much a life is
