Even though the Empire has fallen the Senate has been split up into two groups the Populists and the Centrists where the Centrists believe in a more firm government and a more dominant military. Senator Organa has to trust Senator Casterfo and that he won’t do anything to thwart the investigation. In the novel where Organa’s and Casterfo’s trust shows up in dialogue is here -“Just weird to hear you approving of a Centrist,” Greer said…, and ”If he went to her office, that would mean signaling his lower rank; such behavior was appropriate but not conductive to the kind of partnership he hoped to build with Leia Organa.” These sentences from the text are just laying the foundation of trust built amongst the two senators. More towards the end of the novel their friendship/trust between each other nearly fades away as Senator Casterfo is told the revelations of Senator Organa’s father whom was Darth Vader (past tense because he died in ROTJ- Return Of The Jedi). “ Ransolm knew he would never get over the revulsion he felt at unwittingly trusted Darth Vader’s child.” This is the major turning point in the story, because Leia’s and Casterfo’s friendship now fades away and Leia is now faced with taking up the investigation herself.Senator Organa is faced with not being trusted by what she thought to be a friend including the entire senate, except her closest
