It was April and that's when the government came and took Harrison Bergeron from his parents home. His parents Hazel of average smarts and then the dad George who was smarter than her. George
had devices placed on him to make his the same as his wife. One in particular was a hearing device that made awful noises every twenty seconds in his ear. It was to confuse his so he could not think of ways to out smart the government. Hazel asked George one time what it sounds like. George replied " sounded like somebody hitting a milk bottle with a ball peen hammer," (Kurt Vonnegut, Jr 1).

When Harrison was arrested he was placed with over 300 lbs. of devices on his body. This didn't stop him from escaping from jail and ripping all the devices off. He thought everyone should not be equal but be their own person. After he escaped he went to a dance play and found a dancer and made her ripe all her devices off. They danced together and danced so high they kissed the ceiling. Once the handicapper general found out she came to the play and killed them right there on the stage. It was being shown live on t.v and Harrison's mom was watching and saw her son killed. She was crying when George came back in and couldn’t tell him why she was crying.
In their time the government ruled everything that they did and how they lived. No, government should every have that much control over anyone and how they should live their life. Handicapper General should never have that much control. Harrison and the dancer died for doing what they loved to do. They gave their life to be different and not look the same as everyone else. This is something that people should look at in their own lives today.
