Should abortion be legal? That is one of the looming questions in politics and society. There are many people today who believe abortion should be illegal because it is the murder of an unborn baby. People state that an unborn baby is still a human being and that they also deserve the right to their own life (Abortion ProCon.org). Abortion is a right that does not need to be controlled by the government. Abortion should be a choice that women have that allows them to control their own bodies. According to Abortion Procon “The U.S Supreme Court has declared abortion to be a “fundamental right” guaranteed by the US Constitution”. Before abortion was legal, it was common for a woman to go to an unlicensed doctor to receive an abortion. This doctor would not use proper medical supplies and many women were harmed during this. Some women were even killed from how much the doctor damaged them. With abortion being illegal, women who desperately needed an abortion had to seek unsafe ways that only harmed them in the end. Abortion being legal has given women the opportunity to get an abortion if they need one, while protecting them also. Abortion being made illegal could cause the death or permanent harm of thousands and thousands of women. Most people would not want that on their hands, and nobody wants someone to go through the loss of their mother, or having to grow up without a mother if the abortion failed. What Facts About Abortion states that now “..abortion is one of the safest medical procedures out there”. If abortion was illegal, it would not longer be considered safe and we would have the guilty of denying women their rights and putting them in much more danger than they were in
