Should Colleges Focus Strictly On Academic Achievement

It is understandable why colleges would focus strictly on academic achievement because when it honestly comes down to it, one has to make good grades in order to get into a good school; however, I do not think admissions should be entirely based on grades. Yes, you should maintain a high GPA, but there is more to a person than just their school life. A sentence on page one says “Consider less decorated high-schoolers who have committed time to a sick relative or juggled jobs to help their families.” This exemplifies real life situations that are unavoidable for some students. I think who you are outside of school says more about one’s character and who they truly are. Page three says “Many now require that applicants write personal essays to
