Due to the ever expandatation of the fast food chain enterprise it has become very noticeable of the problem and consequences of obesity is becoming more significant in our daily life. By looking at the statistics it shows that within the United States of America alone one in every three Americans are considered obese and also that for indolence’s ages between twelve to nineteen in the states the percentages of obesity is 20.6% in 2014. (CDC) As the years progress these number will only rise and one of the main factors of this increase is because of the fast food industry. However, obesity hasn’t always been a consequence due to the large consumption of fatty foods, there are cases when obesity is natural due to genetics such as if one or more parents are obese or due to diseases such as Hypothyroidism. (medicinenet) To avoid this problem we use legal drugs to help control weight loss.

As one could assume by seeing the wonders of these drugs, it’s clear that they aren’t distributed for free, so for the people that will need drugs like these may not be able to acquire them due to the price, Yet, some insurance companies do guarantee that they will provide drugs such as these if they are members of insurance and some organisations of free health care are trying to acquire these drugs themselves. But with current refusals in the USA currently about free health care, maybe realising this dream may not come true. Hopefully with outside interference we will be able to have drugs such as these in every hospital and clinic so everyone can have equal rights in terms of using them to improve their

Discussed in “How The First Plants Came to Be”, by David Biello, Earth is the planet of the plants, full of the most lush photosynthesizers. Biello strongly expresses his beliefs on how the first plant evolved from the merging of precise factors more specifically known as a host, Cyanobacteria and denoted parasitic gene. Basically, what Biello is trying to infer is how many years ago an alga ate a cyanobacteria and the first internal solar power plant was formed. In complete agreement with Biello, many can believe that genes evolve over time, all modern plants derived from a symbiotic union of merging factors and how survival conditions effect the environment.…

This documentary is a contribution to a larger discussion about obesity in the United States. It was said that US was one of states with the most overweight population. Two in every three Americans are considered to be overweight or obese. The purpose of the documentary was not to persuade or entertain, but to inform and warn everyone about the dangers of fast foods. Obesity is a huge problem all over the world and is the second leading cause of death in teens and adults. The tone throughout the whole film was mostly humorous, but at times was very serious. Especially when the doctors would talk to him about his health and the impact on his body by eating McDonald’s everyday. The tools that were used by Morgan were personal experience that made the film more realistic. He did state some facts at the beginning of his film that was unbelievable to believe, but true. The author’s thesis is to watch out for fast food consumption, although may be fast is not always healthy for one’s body and could eventually cause death if not cared…

United States faces the risk that the percentage of obesity among children will increase. The percentage of children and adolescents who suffer from this epidemic is 17% (CDC). One generation ago, the rate was three times less than now. The number of obese children is continuously growing, which may cause a danger to children and the future of the country. The risk of obesity does not only mean the risk of diseases and health problems, but also the risks associated with psychological and social impact. There is no doubt that one of the biggest causes of obesity is the unhealthy dietary choices that many children make nowadays (IOM). The larger the increase in the percentage of obese children and thereby the increase in the risks surrounding them, the greater the need to confront this problem. Companies, institutions, parents, and individuals should play a role in fighting obesity, but the role of government is most important. The government can enact laws regulating the process of junk food advertisement aimed at children that contribute to the problem significantly. Although some jurists and businessmen oppose such regulation by government, there is some evidence that regulating junk foods advertisement aimed at children yield positive results.…

America: land of the free and the home of the brave, and recently, the home to a growing waistline. As for any other country, America is prone to an assortment of problems like immigration, debt, or foreign affairs, but one issue that is rather hard to overlook, quite literally, is the obesity epidemic. The extra pounds have become a common sight in America’s society, “men are now on average seventeen pounds heavier than they were in the late seventies, and for women that figure is even higher: nineteen pounds.” (Kolbert). Obesity does not just affect adults in this way either, the child population has been getting bigger as well, according to the numbers on the scale, “the proportion of overweight children, age six to eleven, has more than doubled, while the proportion of overweight adolescents, age twelve to nineteen, has more than tripled.” (Kolbert). This issue has been a major concern to doctors and scientists for decades and in recent years, has even has the American Medical Association recognizing obesity to be a disease (Pollack). That is a highly debatable claim because obesity itself is a preventable lifestyle, avoidable and curable to all (or at least most) of its sufferers. For some of the populaces, obesity is not a choice, rather genetics, but for the majority of the obese population, the extra weight is caused by an unhealthy diet and sluggish lifestyle, and for these certain individuals, through a lot of work and discipline, the return to a healthy lifestyle is not as impossible as it may appear. It is time for America to tip the scales back in the right direction.…

Most health reports indicate that obesity continues to rise in America toward an epidemic proportion. As of now you may have read or seen enormous commercials about obesity in America. From Sanjay Gupta’s essay, “Stuck on the Couch”, the author argues that the reason behind obesity is inadequate exercise. The author supports his argument by using general activities people perform on a daily basis that prevent them from exercising.. On the other hand another author, Motluk argues that we must stop blaming fat people for their size in his essay, “Supersize Me”. He states that we should blame fast food companies in Americas. Both essays explore and propose their idea on how the people and the society are having an intertwine relationship which is affecting their life.…

Americans are heavier than ever before and, according to the CDC (Center for Disease Control and Prevention) approximately 127 million adults in the U.S. are overweight, 60 million adults are obese, and 9 million adults are morbidly obese. Obesity is a medical condition in which excess body fat has accumulated to the extent that may have an adverse effect on health, leading to reduced life expectancy and/or increased health problems. Obesity increases the likelihood of various diseases, particularly heart disease, type 2 diabetes, breathing difficulties during sleep, certain types of cancer, and osteoarthritis. It can be caused by many reasons. One obvious reason is the rise in fast food consumption that companies are so adamant on pushing the public to buy, especially children. With fast food chains creating more and more ways to entice the American public to eat their food, it is becoming harder and harder to stay in shape these days. The fast life of America is quickly taking its toll on the public with the silent enemy called obesity creeping up at an alarming rate. In fact, the rate of it overtaking our lives is so fast; the Surgeon General has called it an "epidemic". Now, the real question is- are fast food restaurants really the culprits at work here? In this essay I intend to compare two very different takes on fast food companies and their ways of making people fat as well as my stand on the matter.…

Obesity in America is a continually growing problem and even worse our own children are sharing in this problem. A commentary in the Washington Times reports that sixty million Americans are obese. What really is the meaning of obese? Obese is having a body mass index of thirty percent or more. In recent years, the percentage of obese Americans has risen. In the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey conducted by the National Center for Health Statistics, the percentage of obese Americans rose from 22.9 in 1984-1994 to 32.2 in 2003 and 2004. The study also says if you throw in the number of "over weight" Americans (body mass index of 25 to 29.9) the total jumps to 66.3 percent of all Americans (Alfred A18). Why are we steadily becoming heavier as a nation, primarily because of our eating habits, genetic and metabolic causes and an excess of inactivity. As more and more people of our nation deal with obesity, they also have to deal with major health problems such as high blood pressure, heart attack and Type II diabetes that all stem from being obese.…

Writing task 2 The percentage of overweight children in western society has increased by almost 20% in last ten years. Discuss the possible causes and effects of this disturbing trend and offer a solution. In modern life, the number of obese people in developed countries is increasing rapidly. More seriously, the majority of this problem is children. Some people think the rise of fast-food outlets is the main cause of the overweight children. But others think that the reason is due to the apathy of parents in caring for their children. Some people blame the fact that the development of the food industry has led to the diversity and the appeal of fast foods. Consequently, the number of fast food stores are springing up everywhere like in schools, libraries or places where the density of children are large. Fast foods are not too expensive. The children can buy their favourite foods at any time they like. Furthermore, children do not get a lot of physical exercise. They sit in front of television or computer or play games while they eat more junk food. Therefore, this bad eating habit of children to consume food high in fat and rich nutrients of foods can easily make them become overweight. In fact, the eating habits of children are mostly influenced by their parents. Parents often think that a fat child is a healthy child. Hence, they always encourage their children to eat as much as possible. In addition, another reason is that parents are always busy with work, they do not have much time to notice their children as well as prepare a healthy meal for their children. Therefore, parents choose fast food. They buy a lot of fast foods, store them in refrigerators and then tell their children that they can eat anytime when they feel hungry. Therefore, damage the health of their children.…
