There is no solid reason for marijuana to be illegal. The risks and dangers of taking it are about the same as the risks of drinking alcohol of smoking tobacco, both which are legal for adults. Furthermore, making it illegal is ineffective at stopping minors from taking the drug, and makes the drug more dangerous because it cannot be regulated. Legal marijuana would be less dangerous because it would have to conform to safety standards, and have warnings to keep people informed, like cigarettes do. If society can change their views on alcohol, they can change their views on marijuana.…

Although there may me adverse effects that in moderation, the drug is no more harmful than legal drugs, such as tobacco or alcohol. What many people do not understand about marijuana is that it is a safe drug and not all drugs are bad drugs. “Marijuana is far less dangerous than alcohol or tobacco. Around 50,000 people die each year from alcohol poisoning. Similarly, more than 400,000 deaths each year are attributed to tobacco smoking. By comparison, marijuana is nontoxic and cannot cause death by overdose.” (NORML, 2015). Marijuana comes in third behind alcohol and tobacco as the most popular recreational drugs. There has never been a death due to marijuana due to the fact that is is nearly impossible to overdose and it is “nontoxic”. It is very confusing to many people as to why this drug is illegal when looking at how safe it is compared to things like alcohol and tobacco…

Legalizing marijuana could help the world out in some many different ways, for example, the crime rate, the reason I say crime rate there has never been a crime committed while being stoned or hazed so that means less crime would be committed, and also the money the countries could make from selling marijuana. However there are also some bad effects of legalizing marijuana, for example, marijuana contains more cancer causing substances than tobacco smoke. Not only could drug harm you physically also use of the drug heavily could cause major brain damage also I learn from my Biology Mark Vitrone and I quote “Marijuana changes the structure of sperm cells, deforming them. Thus even small amounts of marijuana can cause temporary sterility in men. Marijuana use can upset a woman’s menstrual cycle.”(Vitrone 1) Also their more than the few things I just informed you about, but also short term effects could be caused for example the user feels sleepy or depressed, increase in the user heartbeat, and the user anxiety kicks in. For the long term effects it could mess up your growth, your immune system, personality and mood changes and lack of motivation. Also the final bad effects of legalizing marijuana being addicted to the drug not begin able to live without the drug having to smoke a little bit every day the bad effects of using this drug would you want to live like this for the rest of your life you decide. Now where there a bad side thing their also a good side to legalizing marijuana (AKA Mary Jane or Cush).…

The topic of legalizing marijuana has been a topic of controversy for quite some time now not only throughout our local streets, but throughout the local and into the state government. The legalization of marijuana is such a controversial topic because some are for it and some are against it. People are for the legalization because of the great uses it has towards medicine, the money that could come from the taxation of legalized marijuana, and the emptying of prisons because of the releases of marijuana offenses. The list could go on and on. Other people are against the legalization because it is considered a “gateway drug”, or because the legalization of marijuana would eventually lead to the legalization of harder drugs such as heroine or cocaine. Despite the negative comments about the drug, marijuana should be legalized because it would give the U.S. a huge amount of money from the taxation and regulation of the drug, its uses would greatly impact our health throughout the medical field and throughout our own well being, and would help our fight with the war on drugs and our overcrowded prisons.…

People are too vulnerable to see the safety that it would bring to the United States if medical marijuana would actually be legalized. Too many things go on behind the government's back that only the eyes of drug dealers, or most consumers that buy marijuana illegally have seen. If the United States were to legalize marijuana, the crimes and violence that goes on due to the fact that the drug is illegal would be more likely to be avoided. Unfortunately, most Americans are blinded by these positive effects that are brought to the American society such as, the safety, medicinal purposes, and the economic boom that is brought to us by…

The first reason marijuana should not be legalized is that it leads to numerous health concerns for the user and those around him or her. Marijuana will increase the heart rate by 20% to 100% after using it and this can lead to later heart problems. It also affects the lungs and because when smoking marijuana, one inhales more deeply and for a longer time than when smoking cigarettes, so the effect on the lungs is even worse (“Marijuana” screens 1-2). It can lead to coughing, pulmonary infections, and lung cancer, and marijuana also represses the immune system, which exposes the body to numerous diseases (“What are the medical dangers of marijuana use?” screens 1-2). Finally, marijuana is very unhealthy for the brain. According to the web page “Marijuana” written by the National Institute on Drug Abuse, marijuana causes one to have distorted perceptions, impaired coordination, and problems with learning and memory. These results can last for multiple days.…

Scientific research has found that more than 100 million Americans have tried marijuana. There is an estimate of 14.4 million Americans to be past month users. Yet there are only an estimated 2,075,000 past month users of cocaine and 153,000 past month users of heroin.
