Apparently, body cameras are being used by officers in some police departments, but still a whole of ploice officers are not wearing the camera, even though they are currently considered standard equipment. "In December 2014, President Barack Obama announced that $263 million
in funding would be available to help state and local police departmentspurchase body cameras and to underwrite new police training and outreach programs aimed at improving police-community relations."(source text 2). So, even the President of the United States wants to help and make sure that our police officers are doing what they are supposed to do.
There's another reason on how these body cameras can help people, for one, they could help police officers behave in right and just way. It could also help criminals by making not commit crimes, since what they're doing can be recorded. "Video footage will provide police superiors with a potent tool for reliable supervision, debriefing and disciplining, enabling them to condemn bad ploice work and commend the good."(source text 3).
Although, I am aware that there are certain situations where force given to a criminal by a police officer can be nessecary. There are times when the criminal is armed or they have killed a large number of people. However, if that criminal is not armed and they have no proof of the crime or the crime was on that did not need the use of force, then it it will be considered wrong. That is why the cameras are truly neede, to help keep the feeling of fairness in the country.
