Should Teachers Be Allowed To Carry A Persuasive Essay On School Shootings?
Scared whimpers, teary eyes, and fearing for your life. This is what you would experience if a school shooting were to take place at your school. According to EverytownResearch.org there have been 196 school shootings in America since 2013. Last year there were 45 school shootings. The main reasons why our teachers need to be allowed to carry a firearm is for safety during emergencies, it’s cheaper than hiring a security guard, and school shootings can happen anywhere at anytime.
What if you were a teacher and an armed intruder came into your school? How would you protect your students and yourself? If we allowed teachers to carry a firearm that is stored in a locked container a student would not be able to acquire the weapon, and only in emergency situations would the teacher be allowed to remove it from the container. If there was to be a situation where an intruder entered the school building the teacher would be able to protect themselves and the students. There should; however, be a

Arming teachers will also increase the operating cost of school districts that are already short on funding. We hear each year that schools are being forced to cut back programs for the students or the salary of teachers. By arming teachers we would add to that cost by requiring firearm training for those that are authorized to carry a firearm. Additionally will the school district use their own range as law enforcement does? Who will have the qualifications to operate this range? If teachers don’t have their own range there will still be added costs to use a range to train or qualify teachers and staff. Adding more costs to school budgets will only decrease the level of education that children receive by cutting educational things out to make room for arming teachers.…

Arming teachers is a very tough topic to talk about. The first documentary that we watched showed a school that teaches students how to react in a shooting situation, and also arms teachers. I believe that this school is going a little overboard with arming the teachers. The program to train children in self defense is a good idea though. I'm not saying that we should constantly live in fear of a school shooting, but defense training would be a good workshop to do with students. They brought up a very good point in this documentary when they mentioned physical education classes, and the lack of benefits from. I believe that a self defense class would be very useful to ready students for their future. This could help them not only defend themselves…

The board of education is doing everything in their power to ensure that all of the necessary precautions are taken into account before letting any teacher bring a gun to school. The issue regarding arming teachers in schools has been a really hot topic lately with the numerous shootings in schools and on campuses. Many schools are asking themselves if they should go through with training teachers and staff and some schools have started doing so. Even though most schools have not allowed teachers to carry a concealed firearm, some teachers like Kelly Blake, a teacher of agriculture at Fleming School in Colorado, reports that she “wants her students to be protected at all times.” Other teachers along with Blake have looked at the arming teachers situation like this as well because they feel like they have the right to bare arms and protect themselves. Along with giving…

Teachers in 18 states are now carrying guns in school! After a recent study in the news that left many people questioning about, whether teachers should carry guns at school or not. My opinion is that they should not bring guns to school because it could accidentally go off. If this occurred it could affect a child's learning long term and their home life. This could also attract teachers for the wrong reason.…

Having an armed officer at a school would have the staff and students feel safe, because they wouldn’t have to worry about what others may bring to the school. Many teachers feel like they are at risk for harm when they come to school. That kind of stress can lead to the teachers getting sick and major health issues. Students who have this same fear will start doing poorly in school, or just not want to go so they ditch school. That isn’t a healthy environment, and is not fair to the staff and students to live in fear at the school.…

According to the article “Gun safety, Texas-style” an editorial from the Los Angeles times, the article presents that in order to avoid campus tragedy or school shooting happens, the Texas government may establish a law that allow students to carry gun on campuses. As the campus shooting tragedy happened in the past, the law’s supporters think most of times the schools lack of ability to protect students. They believe the best defense way is the students have ability to fight back when students face to gunmen. The purpose of allowing students carry guns on campus is to prevent future recurrence of the campus tragedy. In my personal view, campus shooting tragedy is unfortunate for civil education and we oppose any violence on campus. Therefore, I definitely do not agree students should carry guns to school.…

Up to what extent would you go for protection? Many colleges and universities have to come to a controversial argument on whether guns should be allowed on campus. The Students for Gun Free Schools (SGFS) is one of two organizations who is involved in this controversial argument. The SGFS is against the idea of students carrying guns on campus because they believe, as stated in their motto, they are “armed with knowledge, not guns!” (Kirszner and Mandell 633). The other organization is the Students for Concealed Carry (SCC). The SCC is pro-gun concealed carry organization that formed because of the unforgettable and horrendous incidents that have happened in the past years. The idea of guns on campus should not be tolerated because it may cause more collateral damage since the shooters won’t have enough experience, it can cause an interruption and distraction in everyone’s college education, and more permits would be more accessible to non-law abiding citizens.…

One reason teachers being able to carry concealed weapons is a smart idea is because they are always going to be prepared for something as horrible as a school shooting. Most school systems hire police or some type of security to watch after students during the day. Security should be enough protection, so a teacher still shouldn’t feel the need to carry a gun. It’s still not fully safe for a security to carry a gun. On January 27, 2011 a policeman was arrested for shooting his gun inside of a school building. Not only did he fire his weapon, he also lied about the situation. If the same situation took place and a teacher had control over the gun it actually could have been worse, because a school policeman just watch over the student who are most likely in the hall, a teacher actually is in class with the students.…

The main one that I would see right off the bat would be storage of the guns. Would each teacher need to carry the gun with them at all times? If not that are there going to be safes in each of the class rooms to have the gun in, because any student can overpower a teacher and just take the gun if they wanted to. This would make the situation worse; the students would already have the weapons on school grounds. All they need to do is find a way to get it, and there will be students that will want to get the guns to cause harm, make a since, or just to prove a…

More than one hundred fifty Americans are shot daily. Eighty-three Americans are killed each day. One child is killed every hour. At least eight children or teens are killed per day. In the United States, children under fifteen years old commit suicide with guns due to bullying, about eleven times more than other countries combined. More than a third of the states already allow teachers and other adults to carry guns to school. In most cases, all you need is the equivalent of a note from the principal — you usually don't even need law enforcement…
