Sidney Patrick Crosby was born August 7, 1987 in Cole Harbour, Nova Scotia. He is the captain of the Pittsburgh Penguins and has been since his second year in the NHL. They said before he ever made it to the NHL the he was the “next one” and just as he seemed to be living up to that nickname a little adversity came his way. From the very beginning there was no doubt weather Crosby had the heart or skill to be the best player the nil has ever seen. His two years in the QMJHL he was not only the leading scoring for his team and his league but also the leading scorer for all of the CHL. He earned two back to back CHL player of the year awards and led the Rimouski Oceanic to the 2005 Memorial Cup.
In Sidney Crosby’s early years
you could probably find him one of two places at the hockey rink or in his grandmothers basement shooting pucks at and old dryer, thats all he did was eat, sleep and breath hockey. When Crosby was just 2 years old his father Troy Crosby gave him a mini stick and a tennis ball, he loved it. The following year when Sidney was still only 3 he laced up the skates for the first time. That year he was playing for a hockey club and was they youngest player. Even though Crosby was the youngest player in his league he was the best player and the only player that had the basic concepts of stick handling. Sidney immediately became recognized for his exceptional skill.
Before Crosby was even 10 years old local media was all over and and everybody was talking about him. In his local league in Cole Harbour, NS in 55 games he scored 159 goals and 280 points and the other players where up to three years older than him. By age 14 it was clear that Sidney was on his way to a great professional hockey career. Sidney and his family
