“Rude gesture” “Peace sign”
This sign has two meanings, when it is viewed this way, it is a rude gesture, however if it was flipped it could also be seen as a symbol of peace. What is seen now as the “peace sign” once was used as a victory sign. The peace sign which is quite common amongst teenagers today symbolizes friendliness and general well- being
This is the sign for an energy drink called Monster, to many people, this drink has connotations of being evil and associated with the devil. It is believed to be subliminal messaging. The lines “M” are believed to be scratch marks meaning that if you drink it, you will get a lot of energy, enough to make people think you are a “monster.” Their slogan is “Unleash The Beast. It is associated with being antichrist.
This is a no smoking sign, they are seen on many walls outside shopping malls (pavilion, gateway etc) this sign was not needed many years ago as people were allowed to smoke anywhere, but people are no longer allowed to smoke anywhere as the laws are much stricter. This prohibition sign is recognized universally, it is a red prohibition sign which is recognized as “not permitted”. Because this sign is seen in so many places, there is now a green smoking sign (circle with no line through) allocated in places where it is acceptable to smoke.
This is a “thumbs up sign” it is seen a controversial sign as it can be interpreted in many different ways. The thumbs up sign can mean: O.K., hitch hike, directional, sexual insult. This gesture originated from the days of gladiatorial combat in ancient Rome, it was used to determine the fate of a beaten warrior. The crowd advised the ruler by showing thumbs up, which meant they thought he fought well enough for his life to be spared, or they showed thumbs down, which meant they thought that
