Similarities between sharks and dolphins

While sharks and dolphins are certainly very different creatures, they share some things in common. First of all, they both live in water and are vertebrates.
Both are vertebrates meaning they both have backbones. In addition, they both have dorsal fins and side fins. Just like sharks, dolphins eat fish. They also swallow their food whole and don't chew. Sharks and dolphins usually co-exist peacefully, but occasionally they attack and sometimes kill each other that have to compete for food. In the same way, they don’t sleep all their life. Likewise, they also have a 6th sense, dolphins use echolocation to find food and sharks use electroreception. Although sharks and dolphins are completely different species, they still resemble in few ways.

“Animals need air to breathe as a source of food, to eat to provide certain minerals to provide some of the body’s needs and to drink (BioTopic.com, 2014).” Because the needs vary from one species to another, there comes the need to compete for many things for the need to survive. Even if this means that the species themselves are considered part of the food web as a meal for a larger species. With not only the competition to survive to make it out alive through another day, there is the need to create a family and also find a safe place to live (BioTopic.com, 2014).…
