A similarity that the two have is that they were created to “organize workers, soldiers, and peasants and to strengthen the Soviets so that they could eventually seize power from the Provisional Government,” (April Theses). The pigs on the farm organized the other animals and prepared them for the battles they would soon face against their opponents, such as the Battle of the Cowshed and the Battle of the Windmill which the animals later fought in against the humans. The Battle of the Cowshed is a battle the animals will soon fight in against the original owner of the farm, Mr. Jones, and his men. They had tried to take back their farm but the animals did not allow them to so they fought. The battle can relate to the Russian Civil War in which the Bolsheviks had fought in. The Battle of the Windmill is the battle where they fight against a neighbouring farm owner named Frederick. There was bloodshed and death everywhere, just like in the Battle of Stalingrad, which the Battle of the Windmill is related to. The animals won in the Battle of the Cowshed just like the Bolsheviks had in the Russian Civil War and in a way they did win the Battle of the Windmill but in another way they did not just as the Bolsheviks in the Battle of Stalingrad, the animals had lost many comrades such as “a cow, three sheep and two geese,” (Orwell 90). Old Major to Vladimir Lenin, the Bolsheviks relating to the pigs and animals, and the April Theses to the seven commandments. Everyone loved Vladimir Lenin and Old Major because of their boldness and how they lead their people which is why they were greatly respected and remembered. The Bolsheviks, the pigs, and the animals are connected because of how fearless they were in the battles they fought and as for the April Theses and the seven commandments they were to help the Lenin’s people and Old Majors for when they needed a reminder of what was important.
