With a brutal sense of malice, God hardens Pharaoh’s heart time after time, throwing Egypt into a greater state of turmoil with each plague. Once the Pharaoh finally decides to let the Israelites leave, God hardens Pharaoh’s heart one final time. After which, he sends out his army to pursue the Israelites and God drowns his army in the sea. It is reasonable to wonder why God went to such immense lengths to bring Egypt to the brink of destruction.
