It can be argued that Thomas Jefferson’s (the President at the time) sending off of these men on their expedition was one of the greatest and most effective decisions in the growth of this country. The Lewis and Clark expedition, recorded in their journals, can be viewed as one of the most significant articles of history in the development, expansion, and scientific discoveries of North America.
While travelling with the Corps of Discovery , Lewis’ and Clark’s expedition went down in history because of their mission’s successful accomplishments. These two men not only kept a detailed documentation of their daily lives, but also brought back an abundance of knowledge in the scientific field . When Lewis and Clark agreed to this mission, Thomas Jefferson was intrigued at the idea of potential discoveries in the new territory often described as the “darkest North America.” He never anticipated that this exploration adventure would influence how the United States functions today.
