Edgar Allan Poe is considered by many to be one of America’s greatest literary figures. Many of his poems and short stories have a mysterious or gothic theme. Two short stories in particular, “Ligeia” and “The Fall of the House of Usher” have many of the standard gothic elements like remote settings and supernatural occurrences.
