The play follows Romeo and Juliet’s romance from love at first sight into the growth of true love, then into the downwards spiral of their parents’ disapproval and violence between the two families, concluding in the devastating death of the young couple. The theme of love is crucial in both the film and the play, and is exhibited repeatedly through different characters and events. However, in spite of the many differences, there are similarities between the two stories. Romeo and Juliet and “Teen Couple Executed by their Parents…for daring to fall in love,” both involve the deaths of the couples all happening at a young age, all of them dying before the age of 19 before any of their parents died. Throughout both stories a common factor is that the couples were forced to make adult decisions about their lives and love lives; while, the adults around them were making many poor decisions. Unlike many love stories where the strong, handsome male saves the damsel in distress, the female protagonists in both of these stories appeared to be stronger than their male counterparts. When one thinks about the word love, one would think about marriage, kissing, and happiness. However, love can cause people to get injured or die. This lesson is evident in The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare by having irony and characterization. Franco Zeffirelli’s adaptation of William Shakespeare’s play, Romeo and Juliet (1968) tried to express this lesson through the use of atmosphere and body language. A lesson that can be learned from Shakespeare’s play is that love can get someone killed and Zeffirelli’s attempt at presenting this lesson in his film was a failure so the negative effect was that it made the deaths of many of the character seem to stem from stupidity rather from love.…

William Shakespeare once wrote, "Better three hours too soon than an hour too late (Windsor.II.ii). " The play, Romeo and Juliet, exemplifies the true meaning of this quote. It was a tale of young lovers, who fell in love so quickly that many saw it as an infatuation, but I saw it as a story of love. They found the right person at the right time. Yes, it was earlier in life than when most people find true love, but the timing was right for them.…

Throughout Act III we see a lot of recurring inconsistencies between order and disorder. And in Act III:iii, We see character development when Romeo is expressing his feelings about how because of his banishment, he will not be able to see, hear nor touch his “heaven” or Juliet but animals will be able to look upon her and flies will be able to touch her. This shows how young Romeo really is and shows how different (soft) he has become since meeting Juliet, before he probably would have been grateful that he wasn’t set to death and instead banished but now he wishes he were dead instead. Furthermore some foreshadowing comes into play when Romeo asks Friar if he has anything like a knife, poison or weapon he can use to kill himself because he…
