Sister Francis Rivers is a part time chaplain at the Tyson plant in the Missouri Ozarks, where the majority of employees are newly immigrated Hispanics. Sister Francis works alongside her fellow chaplains to help the employees of the plant deal with cultural differences, employee disputes, and any other problems that they may have (poultry giant). Because of the amount of Hispanic workers, ethnicity and learning to deal with the differences…
The book, Shays' Rebellion: The Making of an Agrarian Insurrection, is a historical account that provides an interesting perspective on the accounts of many struggling men, earning wages in the agricultural force, who were driven to form a rebellion against the government and the court system, because of a crisis of debt and credit that struck after the Revolutionary War in the years from1786 to 1787. The text as a whole provides a good analysis on the subject at hand and achieves its goal to the reader. The source would be helpful to those who already have an understanding about this period in history; however, because of the lack of a decent timeline, for those who are new to Shay’s Rebellion, the book may be hard to follow. There is good evidence provided in the text to support his ideas, and from my knowledge on the subject I agree with these ideas. Author Szatmary, takes the stance that Shay’s Rebellion was an ironic, three-stage occurrence that just so happened to be one of the crucial factors leading to the formation of the United States Constitution.…
This commonly takes the form of an afternoon snack and activities such as story time. By spending time and caring for the natives, Sacred Road has provided a better future for the natives. Vasquez even went on to say, “What is there to hope for? When Sacred Road Ministries began, many children were nervous, timid, and would not speak to the staff. Over the years, there has been a dramatic change. Children we never saw smile, are smiling and laughing... Through Sacred Road Ministries, a church community has formed, along with Youth and Children programs, after-school tutoring programs, and work parties that come in the spring and summer to do service projects in the community. What we see growing is a sense of family and a growing trust. We believe this has sparked a change to combat hopelessness. For many of the children, especially, the Sacred Road staff and community is the only safe place they know where they can let down their guard. Sacred Road’s facility is like a home for them. They are fed, loved, played with, and just have basic needs met.”…
The bible shows the word of god. There will be resurrection of the dead but Jesus has been resurrected. They believe that there is a heaven and a hell. To be a Baptist you have to know and believe that Jesus is their savior. They believe that Jesus died on an upright stake. Finally is the similarities of the Jehovah witnesses and the Southern Baptist.…
“A Rabbi Shops at Walmart”. I can identify myself with the main idea of this scenario. Due to the fact of the dimension of diversity in the USA, sometime our education is not the same with the person next to us. For example, we do not use to make any contact physic as shaking hands or kisses when we know someone for the first time. it might look unfriendly or lack of respect when someone do it and we denied, but our values are different. People might get a bad impression for this act, however; only a minority understand without an explanation. I have known a person who lose a job opportunity because this specific cruise control. This person did not shake hands during an interview which gave a negative first impression. As the cashier, the…

Brandon is from Colorado and he comes down to Greenwood for the summer and sells fireworks. He comes in the shop almost every night and orders either green tea and honey, or a house coffee with whip cream and caramel sauce on top. We also have a few people that visit Greenwood once a year for certain events and always are ready to have their favorite drink from Java House. There is a lady that has to have her oxygen tank and her husband that is sometimes in a wheel chair that come every week on Friday or Saturday. They order loaded baked potato soup, strawberry spinach salad, half a sandwich, usually a TBA (turkey, bacon, avocado), and two large peach smoothies. I have their soups warming up before they even walk through the door. One of my favorite customers is John Miller. He is a retired bomb squad technician and has a distinct ascent. He likes to talk, make jokes, and is never in a bad mood. He just comes in Java House mostly to sit, drink coffee, and talk with us. Another lady has been getting a large potato soup and taking it to her friend that can’t get around on her own. She pays $5.50 every day because her friend doesn’t eat much and she loves our potato…
The two metropolitan areas that I have selected are New Orleans my hometown where I was born and raised before hurricane Katrina and Corpus Christi, Texas my new hometown where I have resided at since hurricane Katrina. The Criminal Offense for New Orleans and for Corpus Christi, Texas is Property Crime.…
Anyway, once the service was over I met with Lisa and she began to take me on a tour of Muir’s Chapel. What I saw was amazing. Lisa and I had to pass through the fellowship hall where there were refreshments offered such as coffee, juice, and biscuits with a side of bacon or sausage. This very rarely happens at my church unless it is a special occasion of some sort. I was astonished to find out there were several different refreshments served after each service. Lisa then took on a quick tour of the rest of the church as she needed to readily available to the members if one needed to talk or maybe ask for prayer. So we scurried on to the Contemporary service that was going on in one of the newer parts of the church. I was in this service for only about 15 minutes as this service started at 9:00 A.M., and the Traditional service I attended started at 8:45 A.M. What little I saw was interesting. There was an actual choir at this service, and the choir had a Pop sound, which is closer to what I am used to hearing. At the end of this service Lisa had to leave to attend to some of the members of the church and I had to go to a dedication at my…
Background: John Doe is an American Citizen. He comes from a rich, white family. John Doe does not have many friends except for the selected few, who are friends with him only because of his family's financial status. His Family is very religious and well known in their town, for their strong belief in God and the church.…
The scene at the Thornton Township Food Assistance Program, where I served, much resembles the one SSA describes at Willow Creek Care Center. There we served the young and the old, men and women, whole families. We served Latinos, Blacks, and Whites alike, but the resemblance ends there. Willow Creek Community Church is a 24,000 member mega-church while Thornton Township is just a food…
I work in a nursing home for the dementia of the elderly and I understand that their upbringing and background was very different to how mine was, some of the service users have a very different view on life with their beliefs but I take into account that everyone has their own way of living and thinking for example sadly one of the services users past away last year and her close friend who also lives in the home wanted me to accompany her to her funeral in a church, even though I don’t believe in god I still took the time on my day off to take her and pay my respect and sang the songs throughout the lovely service, religion may affect people in different ways as we are taught differently and brought up in different ways by doing this it made me happy that I made a service user happy that she could attend.it is important that I remember that my personal preferences are different to others and that I can’t and will not try to change that, for example iv recently had a conversation with an elderly woman that I look after about cleanliness, she explained to me that when she was my age she only had a bath once a week and that was only on a Sunday, I explained to her my beliefs in how I have a bath daily and sometimes twice a day as that is how I was brought up, I asked her if she still would like to have a bath on a Sunday but she replied with she doesn’t really mind what day she has her bath but sometimes would like two.…
Every 2 weeks after service, my church hosts breakfast for anyone who wants to come. My dad and I would normally attend these events, because he was too lazy to make breakfast on his own. Well on this particular chilly morning in autumn, it was my church’s turn to host breakfast, and as routine, my dad and I go and serve ourselves a cup of coffee and we also grab a bagel. While I sat and ate this bagel I couldn’t stop thinking about this man and how he how he was doing considering it was in the low 40’s that morning. The more I thought about it, the more I felt sorry for this man. I needed to find Steven, my youth pastor who also normally came to breakfast, to tell him about this man. I knew there had to be something I could do to help him, even if it just was getting Steven to go over there and talk to him and offer him some breakfast because I was too scared to approach this man.…
I chose to attend a Catholic Mass service at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. I selected this type of experience because I have never attended a Catholic service. I am an African-American female and I was raised in the Baptist faith. In my community there are very few Black people of the Catholic faith; therefore contacting a friend to attend the service with was impossible. I attended the service on a Monday. The service started at noon. The congregation was predominantly white. The African-Americans I saw were very few in number. Since I am a very open person I was really excited to attend the service. My family on my mother’s side are mostly Seventh - day Adventist and I was taught several ideas about the Catholic Church.…
Recently I was honored to conduct an interview with Pastor Mike of the Trinity Baptist Church of Reedsburg, WI. Growing up in a non-denominational home where when we were old enough we were taught to believe in who we find fit. I was quite confused at first and decided to pay a visit. From the moment I knocked on the door I was greeted with sincerity. Here stood a man who didn’t judge me like has been done before. I was lost in a sense. At first he seemed a little hesitant but then let me ask a few questions.…
