Vasquez even went on to say, “What is there to hope for? When Sacred Road Ministries began, many children were nervous, timid, and would not speak to the staff. Over the years, there has been a dramatic change. Children we never saw smile, are smiling and laughing... Through Sacred Road Ministries, a church community has formed, along with Youth and Children programs, after-school tutoring programs, and work parties that come in the spring and summer to do service projects in the community. What we see growing is a sense of family and a growing trust. We believe this has sparked a change to combat hopelessness. For many of the children, especially, the Sacred Road staff and community is the only safe place they know where they can let down their guard. Sacred Road’s facility is like a home for them. They are fed, loved, played with, and just have basic needs met.”
