Retreat 2012
Last October 19-20, 2012 was two of the memorable days of my life as a teacher. Why? It’s because I got to experience for the first time a RETREAT. When I was still in high school, I did not study in SAAT that’s why; I was not able to join a retreat before. It was my first time. My first day in the retreat was full of questions. What are we going to do? What might happen on this day?
The first part of the retreat was about the love of God for me. The activity really helped me to remember again those people who touched my life, people who were always there for me. There was this part of the retreat when we read a letter from God and in return we will also write a letter for Him. During this activity, my eyes were opened again about my purpose in life. Everything that surrounds me are God’s gift for me and I should use them for God’s glory not for my own. Sharing is what we should do in this world. God gave us those things so we can share it to others, to show them our love and God’s love.
Another part was about our blindness and insensitivity to sin and evil. Pride is one of the reasons why we sinned. It is true! Because of pride, we can do things against the will of God and that means committing sins. To lessen or even stop us from committing sins, first is to become humble. Let’s remember that our life here on earth is temporary. This is just a test, an entrance test to heaven. For us to pass, we must do good things. We must do things that will make Him happy, not those things that will make him sad (sins).
Of course a retreat won’t be successful if conflicts within the group of retreatants are not settled. The last part was when we had our moments of reconciliation.
The first retreat that I had with my colleagues on those days was really memorable. Before we started, sister asked us about our expectations. I said, “Since this is my first time, I expect it to be memorable.” It was indeed a memorable one. During
