McMinn there are three roles that counselors play at the same time: participants in the interpersonal interactions that occur in the counseling office, counselors are observers and, counselors are engineers of the counseling relationship. It is evident that so much rides on the competence of the counselor particularly the counselor’s educational and experiential background which holds the framework of that counselor’s effectiveness in the office. It touched my heart and hit on everything from brokenness, sin, forgiveness, fasting and prayer, reading scripture, humility and redemption. It is crazy because I saw myself in a lot of the scenarios that he described in his book. Sometimes people don’t realize that they are broken until they start hearing others talk of their brokenness. I know view brokenness as a necessary pill for my spiritual diet. We all must be broken in order to realize that only God can and will fix us. Another interesting caveat that McMinn talks about is original sin, you know like Adam and Eve in the garden, but then discusses the issue of personal sin and how original sin blankets all of us and we need to understand this important fact and distinguish the two in order to begin healing. He talked about redemption in such matter I had to read the chapter twice. We think of redemption starting with Christ dying on the cross, but we never apply the act of redemption toward one another as a characteristic trait. This demonstrates our ability to minister God’s grace to one another. Many people are losing faith in God and each other for various reasons, but I feel called to go out there in the world through my counseling profession to re-inspire people that God loves them and wants them to be close to Him. Girl, you have to get this book even though I know being a counselor is not on your agenda. I feel that we
